Dr Oscar Martinez-Alvarado

Dr Oscar Martinez-Alvarado has done research in meteorology since 2008 when he joined the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading, as a post-doctoral research assistant. In 2014 he became part of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science. His areas of expertise and research interests are high-impact weather and mid-latitude weather systems including sting-jet windstorms, warm conveyor belts and their relationship to atmospheric rivers, and atmospheric blocking. More recently he has started work on the assessment and predictability of wind energy with a Newton Fund Institutional Links project working in collaboration with Mexican research institutes.
